Application of SpECtite FXTA:
Preparation:
The substrate must be clean and dust-free. All contaminants such as friable material, grease, and oil should be completely removed. Pre-soak the substrate but ensure that no standing water remains.
Mixing:
SpECtite FXTA is a one-component flexible cementitious tile adhesive. For each 25kg bag, 4.75 to 6.00 litres of water are required depending on the consistency required. Pour the measured volume of water into an appropriately sized plastic or metal drum. Add the powder to the water slowly while mixing with a spiral paddle attached to a slow-speed electric drill. Mixing should continue for a minimum of 5 minutes until a uniform, lump-free consistency is produced. Allow the product to stand for 15 minutes, then remix for 2 – 3 minutes prior to use.
Application:
Apply SpECtite FXTA at a depth of 3 – 6mm into a working area not exceeding 1m². For ceramic floor tiles, decorative stone cladding, and in wet conditions, solid-bed fixing is recommended. In other situations, the adhesive may be combed with a notched trowel prior to fixing. Press the dry tiles into place using a twisting action to ensure good contact with the adhesive. Tapping with a rubber hammer ensures good contact with the adhesive. Remove any excess adhesive from the surface of the tiles with a damp cloth prior to the material setting.
Curing Time:
Allow the SpECtite FXTA to cure for a minimum of 24 hours before attempting further grouting of joints between ceramic wall/floor tiles. After fixing ceramic floor tiles, no traffic should be allowed for a minimum of 4 days at 25°C.
