Application
The application of SpECtop EU is a critical process to ensure optimal performance. Below are the essential steps for successful application: Surface Preparation
It is vital that SpECtop EU is applied to sound, clean, and dry surfaces. This ensures maximum bond strength between the substrate and the flooring system. Prior to application, all dust and debris should be removed to facilitate proper adhesion. New Concrete Floors
When applying to new concrete floors, ensure that they are at least 28 days old, with a maximum moisture content not exceeding 5%. Any laitance deposits must be removed through light grit blasting, mechanically scabbling, or grinding. Old Concrete Floors
For old concrete surfaces, mechanical cleaning methods are strongly recommended, especially in areas with heavy oil and grease contamination. Existing coatings should also be removed, typically via grit blasting, to ensure proper adherence of SpECtop EU. Mixing Instructions
SpECtop EU is supplied as a three-component kit that includes a base component, curing agent, and graded filler. Mix the components thoroughly for 3-5 minutes until uniform consistency is achieved. Application Process
Spread the mixed SpECtop EU to a uniform thickness on the primed surface using either a garden rake or plastic trowel. The material should be tamped thoroughly for compaction and finally finished to an even texture with a wooden trowel. Pot Life
It is important to apply the material within its pot life of 70 minutes after mixing. Unused material beyond this timeframe should be discarded. Overcoating
Once SpECtop EU has cured for at least 24 hours, it can be overcoated with any other SpECtop floor system as required. Expansion Joints
Ensure that expansion joints in the existing substrate are continued through the SpECtop EU and any subsequent topping, filling them to the required level with a suitable sealant.
