Application of SpECbuild SC
Preparation:
Before applying SpECbuild SC, it is crucial to prepare the substrate adequately. Ensure that all laitance, grease, and oil are removed through grit blasting. The resulting surface should be dust-free. Additionally, the prepared substrate must be thoroughly soaked with clean water prior to application. When the application starts, ensure the substrate is saturated without any standing water on the surface.
Mixing:
SpECbuild SC is a one-part cementitious mortar requiring 6.5 to 7.0 litres of clean water for each 25kg bag. For mixing, use a forced action mixer or an appropriate-sized metal or plastic drum equipped with a slow-speed drill and a spiral paddle. Always add the water to the mixing vessel before introducing SpECbuild SC into the mix. Continue mixing for 3 to 5 minutes until achieving a uniform, lump-free consistency.
Application Process:
SpECbuild SC can be applied in one layer as a thin section render up to 3mm thick. It is also suitable for filling blowholes up to 10mm deep. Avoid overworking the material during application and allow it to partially set before final finishing. This finishing can be enhanced by lightly flicking water onto the surface before troweling.
Curing:
While SpECbuild SC is resistant to shrinkage cracking, it is advisable to protect the material from extreme conditions like hot winds or freezing temperatures. To reduce rapid drying, SpECcure AC or SpECcure WE can be sprayed on the surface. In colder conditions, ensure the material is protected from freezing.
