Extrusion after compressing to 50% of the specimen’s thickness 0.22 mm
Service temperature range -10 to +75°C
Compression (ASTM D1751) a) Stress applied for compressing specimen to 50% of its thickness: 1900 Kpa
b) Loss in weight after application of stress: 0.1 – 0.2%
Brittleness (ASTM D994) No sign of crack or shatter
Distortion (ASTM D994) 1.5 mm
Application
In Concrete:
SpECcell Fibre is a compressible joint filler in sheet form, used to form and fill expansion, isolation, and control joints. It can be placed against formwork on the concreting side prior to pouring the first section of concrete. After the removal of the formwork, the subsequent pour is cast directly against the SpECcell Fibre, which can be cut back later to create the sealing slot.
In Brick & Blockwork:
SpECcell Fibre should be installed while laying brick or blockwork to ensure that a sealing slot of the required dimensions is formed. This application ensures consistent performance in providing space for expansion and contraction throughout the structure.
As a Separator Strip:
SpECcell Fibre may also be used as a separator strip in slab pavement construction, effectively managing the movement between pavement slabs and enhancing durability.
SpECcell Fibre is available in the following packaging options:
– Thickness: 10 mm, 12.5 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm
– Board size: 1220 mm x 2200 mm

Product FAQ

SpECcell Fibre is used in applications such as expansion joints in trafficked surfaces, bridges, roads, runways, and pedestrian areas. It also serves as a temporary filler in expansion joints encased between asphalt saturated glass fiber felt and is suitable for joints in concrete roofs, external walls, cladding layers, and floors. Additionally, it can be applied in structural separation joints between buildings, in brickwork, concrete, and block construction, as well as a separator strip in slab pavement construction.
SpECcell Fibre prevents deterioration by resisting dry or wet rot, fungus attack, and environmental factors. Its durable, bitumen-impregnated composition ensures long-lasting performance, protecting joints from moisture and other damaging elements.
SpECcell Fibre’s performance is enhanced by its high resilience, compressibility, and durability against environmental deterioration. It exhibits a low weight loss after stress application, a recovery rate of 81% after compression, and resistance to dry or wet rot and fungus attack. Additionally, it maintains structural integrity within a service temperature range of -10 to +75°C, ensuring reliability in various applications.
SpECcell Fibre is available in thickness options of 10 mm, 12.5 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm.
SpECcell Fibre is installed by placing it against formwork on the concreting side before pouring concrete. After the initial pour, it remains in place during the curing process. Once the formwork is removed, the fibreboard is cut back to create a sealing slot. In brick or blockwork, it is positioned while laying, ensuring the formation of a proper sealing slot for expansion and contraction.
SpECcell Fibre is available in thickness options of 10 mm, 12.5 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm.
