Application:
SpECtop Armourite Standard is designed for application on new concrete floors. Its formulation ensures optimal performance and durability.
Preparation:
It is essential to plan the application adequately in advance and ensure that sufficient material is laid out to meet the project’s requirements. The base concrete slab should have a thickness of not less than 80mm, and the concrete mix design should adhere to the following specifications:
– Water/cement ratio < 0.50
– Cement content/m³ > 300kg
– Slump > 75mm
– Air entrainment < 2%
Note: Vacuum dewatering should not be used.
Application Process:
SpECtop Armourite Standard must be applied as soon as the base concrete has reached the stage where light foot pressure leaves an indentation of around 5mm. The product should be applied at a rate determined by the anticipated traffic level, specifically:
– Medium duty: 4 – 5 kg/m²
– Heavy duty: 6 – 7 kg/m²
The application is conducted in two parts. The first part utilizes two-thirds of the chosen application rate, broadcast evenly across the surface, ensuring the material lands nearly vertically. Once the free water in the base concrete darkens the applied material, wood floating of the surface can commence without over-troweling.
The remaining one-third of the material can then be applied, allowing moisture to combine with the product as before, completing the wood floating process. Once the floor attains a degree of stiffness where light foot traffic doesn’t mark the surface, steel floating and/or power floating can continue.
Curing:
SpECtop Armourite Standard should be cured using a curing membrane such as SpECcure WE, or alternatively, continuous polyethylene sheets taped at the edges can be utilized.
SpECtop Armourite Standard is available in the following packaging:
– Pack Size: 25 kg bags
