Applications of SpECtop CRM:
SpECtop CRM is designed for horizontal use, specifically formulated to restore and repair concrete surfaces efficiently. The following outlines the application process and considerations for using SpECtop CRM:
Preparation:
– **Surface Preparation:** Saw cut or cut back the extremities of the repair locations to a depth of at least 12mm. Break out the complete repair area to a minimum depth of 12mm up to the sawn edge.
– **Surface Cleanliness:** Ensure the surface is clean and free from contaminants such as oil, grease, and laitance. Use light scabbling or grit-blasting to remove any impurities.
– **Steel Reinforcement:** Expose all corroded steel in the repair area, removing loose scale and corrosion deposits. Steel should be cleaned to a bright condition, and corroded areas due to chlorides should be high pressure washed after grit blasting.
Mixing:
– **Mixing Procedure:** Utilize a forced action mixer to thoroughly mix SpECtop CRM. Place 2.3 litres of water into the mixing vessel and gradually add the dry powder, mixing for 3 minutes until fully homogeneous. Ensure not to exceed this mixing time to retain pot life.
Priming:
– **Reinforcing Steel Primer:** Apply one coat of SpECcoat Zn25 to all exposed reinforcing steel and allow it to dry before proceeding.
– **Substrate Primer:** Use SpECbuild Primer E1 to prime the substrate while it is still tacky prior to applying SpECtop CRM.
Application:
– **Mortar Application:** Apply SpECtop CRM evenly with a trowel and tamp it in place using a wood float for full compaction. It can be applied up to 50mm thickness in single applications, maintaining a minimum thickness of 12mm.
Finishing:
– **Surface Finishing:** Strike off the SpECtop CRM to the correct level and finish with a steel trowel to close the surface effectively. A textured surface can be created using a suitable roller or brush without overworking the material.
Curing:
– **Curing Process:** Cure SpECtop CRM using SpECcure WE sprayed on the surface in a continuous film, ensuring proper curing in fast drying conditions. Protect the finished repair from freezing in cold conditions.
