Product FAQ

SpECcell Polyethylene 60 is suitable for structural expansion joints, isolation joints, bridge joints, abutments, and pier hinge joints in concrete, brick, and blockwork.

SpECcell Polyethylene 60 is applied by placing it against formwork before pouring concrete. After the concrete sets, it remains in place and can be cut back later to create a sealing slot. For brick or blockwork, it should be installed to form a sealing slot during the laying process.

SpECcell Polyethylene 60 is available in thicknesses of 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, and 50mm.

SpECcell Polyethylene 60 offers numerous advantages including being non-absorbent and rot-proof, readily compressible, and resilient under normal loads. It is non-tainting, suitable for potable water, and provides excellent recovery after compression. Additionally, it is easily workable, economical, and chemically resistant to most dilute acids, alkalis, oils, and hydrocarbons. Its bitumen-free composition eliminates the need for a bond breaker for sealants, making it ideal for reliable joint filling in construction projects.

SpECcell Polyethylene 60 meets or exceeds the requirements of the U.K. Department of Transport Specification for Highway Works, U.K. DOE Specs. for Road & Bridge Works, BS 5628 Part 3, U.K. Department of the Environment General Specification, ASTM D1752, and ASTM D1751 for water absorption.

SpECcell Polyethylene 60 is preferred due to its non-absorbent, rot-proof, and compressible nature, making it ideal for various applications. It offers excellent recovery after compression, chemical resistance, and is easy to work with. Additionally, it meets relevant standards, ensuring reliability in construction projects.
