Technical Details

SpECtite CW100 is particularly effective in various scenarios where a waterproof barrier is essential:

  • Potable water containers, tanks and reservoirs
  • Swimming pools and silos
  • Waterproofing planter boxes
  • Waterproofing new and existing buildings
  • As a backing to marble and granite to prevent water ingress and thus alleviate surface staining
  • Protection against brackish water
  • Coating seawater channels
  • Wet Areas, Toilets, Balconies & Loggia

SpECtite CW100 offers a range of advantages that make it an optimal choice for waterproofing applications:

  • Withstands hydrostatic pressures
  • Good bond strength to concrete and masonry
  • Good crack bridging capabilities even after long periods of immersion
  • Long pot life even at high temperatures

The technical data for SpECtite CW100 is crucial for understanding its performance characteristics and ensuring proper application:

Property Value
Pot life @ 25°C 45 mins
Colours grey, off-white
Tensile strength (ASTM D412) 0.8 ± 0.2 MPa
Water Absorption 3.27%
Adhesion to concrete 0.8 ± 0.2 MPa
VOC (USEPA 24) <1.0 g/L

The application of SpECtite CW100 is essential for achieving its optimal waterproofing and bonding properties. Proper preparation and application techniques are critical to ensure the best performance:

Preparation:

It is essential that adequate preparation is carried out prior to the application of SpECtite CW100. The substrate must be clean and completely free from contaminants including grease, oil, and loose material. Any repairs to the substrate should be carried out using SpECbuild cementitious repair mortars.

Application Method:

The prepared substrate should be dampened using a fine water spray. Care should be taken with porous substrates as more extensive pre-soaking may be required. Any free water on the surface should be removed immediately prior to applying SpECtite CW100.

Coating Application:

While the substrate is damp but free from standing water, apply the mixed product a minimum of 2 coats by medium hard short bristle brush, trowel, or roller. The first coat should achieve a minimum wet film thickness of no more than 1.5mm and no less than 0.5mm, finished in one direction. The second coat should be applied as soon as the first coat is set hard, typically after a minimum of 3 hours at 25°C and longer at lower temperatures. The second coat should again be finished in one direction (at 90° to the first coat).

Mixing:

The product cannot be mixed by hand. The liquid component should be poured into a clean 25 litre plastic or metal drum. The powder component should be added slowly while mixing with a spiral paddle attachment on a slow-speed electric drill until the product is lump-free, ideally for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Curing:

Normally, SpECtite CW100 does not require curing; however, in hot conditions where high air movement is present, protection against premature drying is essential.

Equipment Cleaning:

Tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately using water, as hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

SpECtite CW100 is conveniently supplied for ease of use:

SpECtite CW100 is supplied in 22.1kg two-part packs.

A complete mixed pack will cover approximately 11.0m² at 1.0 mm thickness depending on the substrate profile.

Product FAQ

To apply SpECtite CW100 effectively, ensure the substrate is clean and free from contaminants. Damp the surface with a fine spray of water, removing any standing water. Mix the components thoroughly using a slow-speed electric drill with a spiral paddle until lump-free. Apply a minimum of two coats using a medium hard short bristle brush, trowel, or roller. The first coat should be between 0.5mm to 1.5mm thick, and the second coat should be applied once the first is set hard, typically after 3 hours at 25°C. Finish each coat in one direction, with the second coat at 90° to the first.
SpECtite CW100 can be applied to concrete, masonry, and surfaces of potable water containers, swimming pools, silos, and planter boxes, among others.
SpECtite CW100 typically does not require curing; however, in hot conditions with high air movement, protection against premature drying is essential.
The recommended thickness for SpECtite CW100 is 2mm on walls and 3mm on floors.
The pot life of SpECtite CW100 at 25°C is 45 minutes.
A complete mixed pack of SpECtite CW100 covers approximately 11.0m² at a thickness of 1.0 mm, depending on the substrate profile.
