Application:
The successful application of SpECcoat CRE200 requires meticulous preparation and methodical techniques to achieve an optimal protective finish.
Preparation:
It is crucial to carry out adequate preparation prior to applying SpECcoat CRE200. For concrete and steel surfaces, grit blasting is recommended to ensure a clean surface. Steel surfaces should be prepared to bright metal standard. The preparation should ensure the removal of old coatings, laitance, curing compounds, grease, and oil.
Any imperfections or ‘blow holes’ should be filled using SpECcoat BC.
Mixing and Application:
SpECcoat CRE200 is supplied in a two-component kit with a base component and a curing agent. The contents of the base component must be thoroughly stirred to disperse any settlement before adding the hardener component. Mechanical mixing using a suitable paddle attached to a heavy-duty, slow-speed drill is essential.
The mixed material should be applied by a suitable brush. The first coat should be applied using a scrubbing action to ensure a uniform build of not less than 200μm. It is important to allow the first coat to dry for at least 8 hours at 20°C or 4 hours at 35°C before applying a second coat.
The second coat must be applied in the same manner as the first, achieving a total film thickness of at least 400μm.
Additional Considerations:
If spray application is being considered, please consult our Technical Department for guidance.
Cleaning Equipment:
Tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately after use using SpECtop Cleaning Fluid. Cured material can only be removed by mechanical means.
SpECcoat CRE200 is available in convenient packaging sizes:
  • 4.5 litres
  • 15 litres
The recommended coverage rates are 5.0m²/litre/coat at 200μm wft, with a minimum of 2 coats required.
