Application of SpECtop RSR
Preparation:
Before applying SpECtop RSR, it is essential to prepare the repair area thoroughly. Form a saw-cut around the perimeter of the repair to a depth of at least 10mm to avoid feather edging and to create a tidy boundary for the proposed repair. Carefully break out the repair area, ensuring a minimum depth of 10mm throughout. Clean the area to remove dust, laitance, and any deleterious matter, including rebar corrosion products. If there is any doubt about the effectiveness of the preparation, a pull-off test should be conducted to confirm satisfactory bond to the substrate.
Mixing Instructions:
To mix SpECtop RSR, place 3.2 litres of water in a forced action mixer and add the dry powder slowly while the mixer is running. Continue mixing for approximately 5 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is achieved. For small one bag batches, a suitably sized drum and a heavy-duty slow-speed electric drill fitted with a mixing paddle can be used.
Application:
The mixed product should be applied to the primed substrate while the primer is still tacky. Do not apply SpECtop RSR to a dry primer. Use a trowel to apply the mortar, ensuring thorough compaction around the reinforcing steel. The maximum bay size should not exceed 5m², and the product can be laid at a thickness ranging from 10mm minimum to 100mm maximum in one layer.
Finishing:
Upon completion of the application, finish the surface with a steel trowel to achieve a closed surface. Avoid over-working the surface to maintain its integrity.
Curing:
Immediately after trowelling, the finished surface should be cured using SpECcure WE to ensure optimal results.
SpECtop RSR is available in convenient packaging for ease of use:
– 25 kg bags yielding 11 litres of mixed product.
